I have a somewhat similar problem here. My connection was working perfectly, UNTIL i tried to connect today, and install my son's newest book... at THIS point, i was prompted to install the "NEW Update" after this, i was no longer able to connect . I uninstalled 4 times, and tried 2 different links to download the installation process ...
still sitting here with a semi useless Tag reader.. where I can not install any new books, or remove prior ones.. what is the point?

Paul,
Take a look at the Tag Customer Support page if you haven't already. It has loads of FAQs, video tutorials, Parents Guides, etc. Here's a FAQ for how to change the name of your Tag profile that may have the answer you're looking for.
If you're still having problems you need to contact Customer Support. Just fill out a ticket and they'll email you in the next few days to help resolve your issue.

Hi - I'm also having this problem.
I have tried on 2 different computers to get the TAG reader to update and allow us to name it. It won't do on either. I've even done an XP restore point on one and a GoBack restore point on the other. It gives me the same thing on both. I've used the CD and i've used the downloaded version. I'm thinking the reader is defective or corrupted. I'm ready to chunk it out the window. Is there a way to reset the TAG reader itself? HELP!
Paul

DADDYDIDDY,
Sorry that you're having trouble installing the LeapFrog Connect application. Please contact Customer Support to resolve your issue.
Once you're up-and-running please return to the LeapFrog Community to let us know how she likes Tag. If she loves her new books we'd be delighted to have her join the Tag Book Club where she can write a review or post a video to let other kids know what's so cool about each title!

I NEED HELP! ! ..
I just got my Tag and so eager to download the audio for my daughter but the connect software is giving me headaches! !
I have tried to install on Vista and even on my MAC OS 10. It always failed and give me error!
I inserted the CD, run the file, it installed very instantly and on the Connect Application Installer last screen, it says "The LeapFrog Connect Application is already installed and up-to-date" there's a button "continue" which I clicked on..
It gave me error "Could not start LeapFrog Connect"
Please help! ! !..
Thank you

I too am having major headaches getting the tag reader set up.
The computer does not recognize the reader when I hook it up via the usb port and after installing from both the cd and the link here at leap frog, I still get an error message that says it can't start leap frog connect.
I did put an inquiry in to customer service. I hope I get help with this, am ready to ship it back at this point and mine four year old is upset because she can't use her Little Mermaid book!!
