I just wanted to add that there are some basic words that do not come up. For example cap would not come up but caps would.  Is is just that there is not enough memory to have the singular and plural of a word?

Rworne's solution worked for me as well (I am on a Vista PC vice a Mac).  But that said, to have to connect, disconnect, restart software, then reconnect to get these custom lists to show up in the Diji is completely unsatisfactory!  I should be able to connect the Diji, remove a list, create a new list, have the new list uploaded, then disconnect the Diji and have it work.  As of right now, it doesn't.  I am forced to use the cumbersome workaround described by rworne.

Leapfrog software engineers - if you read these posts, I hope you are working on fixing yet another blemish in what has been very buggy software.

I have Sonic and the Tiki racing and am using custom lists.  This is what I have observed - note I am running on a Mac, so some things may not be the same between my system and a windows system:

1. Create the custom list

2. Disconnect the Didj (and let it shut down)

3. Quit the Connect application.

4. Restart the Connect Application

5.  Restart the Didj and connect to computer

At this point you should get a pop-up during the sync stating file(s) were copied to the Didj.

6. Disconnect the Didj and restart it.

At this point the custom lists should be working.  It's been working fine on my system for the past two weeks when school started up.

bbasden,

Creating your own spelling lists is part of the product's customization promise. Have you tried this FAQ listed on our Customer Support pages? If that doesn't solve your problem you can contact the Didj Customer Support team.

I hope this helps so that your 1st grader can start having fun while powering through his weekly spelling lists.

Sonic: Not limited to words on custom list?

Got Sonic SPECIFICALLY for the purpose of using the custom spelling lists - 1st grader has new list of 10 words each week, have now done 3 lists.

MAJOR PROBLEM: After putting a custom word list in, noticed the words being tested in Sonic were not the ones on the list - WHAT THE HECK????

Kept watching and did see a word here and there from the custom list, but that COMPLETELY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF WHY I BOUGHT THIS!!  I could've just gotten a Nintendo DS (and still might, if issues like this and the white screen/shut down problem keep happening).

As I mentioned in another post, I'd planned to buy most of the other Didj games, as well as another Didj for my 4-year-old when he turns 5, but I'm seriously doubting if I'll do that now.

Signed,

Mr. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED

P.S. This is interesting - when previewing this before posting it, I noticed 3 letters (think popular competing portable game system) at the bottom that I didn't put there, so I'm guessing Leapfrog is trying to focus on their competition?  I certainly hope so...
